Cadet of the Second Quarter Award

Congratulations to C/A1C Andrew Burd for receiving the Cadet of the Second Quarter Award.
July begins another quarter and a fresh start for everyone.
Remember testing and promoting, doing some community service, bringing a friend to a cadet meeting as well as recruiting a new member go into the criteria used to determine this award.
Keep working hard while we are not meeting in July.

Toastmaster Class Assignment

Cadets-For those of you who missed the cadet meeting, 26 July 2010, we had a guest speaker from the Toastmasters Club come and work with us on our public speaking skills.
~~The assignment for the next meeting, if you attend, will be to have an Icebreaker 5 minute speech about yourself ready to give during the meeting.
You can go to www.toastmasters.org for Tips on preparing your speeches that I hope you will look at.
Other things to remember about giving any speech.
Start at least a week ahead of time so there will be plenty of time to PRACTICE giving your speech (out loud) before you have to give it at the squadron.
Also:
1. Organize your speech!
2. Get to the point.
3. Use proper grammar.
4. Utilize the right kind of body language.
5. Have vocal variety.
6. Research your topic.
7. Get comfortable with visual aids if you use them.
8. Know how to give a persuasive speech.
9. Inspire your audience.
